As a member of SRF Consulting, and in collaboration with MnDOT and the trucking industry, this project sought to identify existing parking trends, key capacity gaps, and to future potential solutions to an ongoing statewide and national transportation issue. The study gathered data from across the state at rest areas and at truck stops to respond to key information needed for the federal Jason’s Law Survey.
The study also used a novel combination of specialized Streetlight Insight data and GPS Probe data to identify locations where the largest truck parking needs are in the state.
Task Manager: Managed the day to day activities including data collection and report development.
Freight Transportation Specialist: Working with key public and industry stakeholders, collected, analyzed, and mapped key data from across the state. Develop new policies using this data. Compiled these results and presented them to a broader audience via presentations and the final report. The final report can be found here.
Stakeholder Engagement Specialist: Worked with key stakeholders to understand the depth of the issue of truck parking in Minnesota, where the issues are the most intense, and to understand driver-driver solutions. Coordinated a summit of over 100 drivers from across Minnesota and the Upper Midwest to collect testimony and provide feedback to our team’s solutions.
